PARTNERSHIP | PARTICIPATION | PROGRESS
P3 is a unique international partnership between four associations representing the institution closest to the citizens – the local governments.
With assistance of funds made available by the European Union and the Swedish International Development Agency, P3 is testing a number of approaches related to local economic development and transparency in 25 municipalities in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. The goal is to make the lessons learned, material produced and progress made available to a wider audience through the partner associations.
The starting point is the untapped potential that can be found in civil society in contributing to healthier finances and transparency in municipalities. Through qualitative interaction with important socio-economic players at the local level and involving local stakeholders in output-oriented participation, the P3 Cooperation is aiming at unleashing this potential to support the promotion of a business friendly climate and transparency in the relationship between the local government and its constituencies.
The website was opened in October 2009 for external as well as internal use during the three year cycle of the partnership.
